Dr. Frey is a graduate of the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He served a tracked internship at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit/Warren, MI and his General Psychiatry residency at Michigan State University. During this time he served two “tours” as Chief Resident, and conducted research on feedback mechanisms in self-injurious behavior. Dr. Frey is a general psychiatrist, currently practicing adult inpatient psychiatry at Sparrow/St. Lawrence Hospital as well as outpatient telepsychiatry and PTSD treatment. His clinical interests include acute inpatient psychiatry, treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, particularly in combat veterans, and the integration of mind-body medicine into psychiatric practice.
Dr. Frey has served in the United States Army for over 25 years in both the National Guard and on active duty, and currently holds the rank of Major. He deployed as a psychiatric specialist with the 13th Evacuation Hospital to Saudi Arabia in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1991, and is a graduate of the Army’s Airborne and Flight Surgeon courses. He also holds the Expert Field Medic Badge, and has been awarded two Meritorious Service Medals. He continues to serve as both a psychiatrist and flight surgeon for the Michigan Army National Guard.
